Artist's Comments

I’ve never really spend much time rendering water subject paintings, I’m not sure why? But a contest called Ocean Fantasies over at FAE Forum intrigued me. This painting “Sirens Gaze” is an underwater scene, featuring my Siren Faery and two friendly Sea-Horses. This may be my entry, though each artist is only allowed one entry per person, so I may give it another go, reducing the blue a bit/different subject or such. Anyways this was a lot of fun, the pose though was challenging. I did use a reference stock image for once, something I hardly ever do. So a great big thank you to:

Great Job. I love the blue. Swirlies are kool looking too. I don't spend much time rendering either. Kinda a race to the finish most of the time for me. I like how the value diminishes left to right with the focal in the lower right. It moves really nice good luck in the contest. What kind of paint & Paper?

I'm fascinated in the renderings of the seahorses and the and bubbles. The composition seems move around by your use of blending values. I like how this piece comes off emotionally, it feels peaceful. Lovely title!
